Open call for Discoveries PHE 2020

Discoveries PHE is a professional meeting for photographers that will be held on June 1th and 2th, 2020, coinciding with the Official Opening of PHotoEspaña, at the  headquarters of PIC.A Escuela Internacional Alcobendas PHotoEspaña, in the Miguel Delibes Space (Avenida de la Magia, 3. 28100 Alcobendas-Madrid).

 

Descubrimientos PHE offers the possibility for selected artists to have individual appointments with national and international experts, in order to create a space where photographers can:

 

Show your photographs to curators and editors
Receive individual advice for your work
Discover trends in the world of image
Share your project with a community of creators
Expand your professional network

How to participate?

Fill in the registration form, in all its fields
Upload photographs, up to a maximum of 15, in jpg format (700px on its shortest side and a maximum of 300kb).
There are no restrictions on technique, theme or year.
We recommend that the photographs belong to the same series.
It is required to pay the pre-registration fee (10 euros), non-refundable, following the steps of the form.

Selection
A jury will select the participants, a maximum of 70, and a waiting list.
The organization will communicate by e-mail the result of the selection. The list will be available on PHotoEspaña’s website.

 

Registration
The selected photographers will receive a second communication with indications for:
– Pay the registration fee (240 euros).
– Send a selection of 10 preferences from the list of experts; appointments will be made with at least 3 of those chosen.
– Each person will have a total of six appointments.

 

Portfolio review

Each appointment will be 20 minutes, and will be organized with strict punctuality.
Reviews will be in Spanish and English.
The organization will do its best to ensure that each photographer is interviewed with the greatest number of their preferences from the list of reviewers. Each photographer’s agenda will be sent before the start of review.

The call for Descubrimientos PHotoESPAÑA 2020 will remain open until April 30.

The organization will update, as soon as possible, the deadlines for closing and formalizing enrollment as well as the celebration of the portfolio reviws and inauguration of PHotoESPAÑA 2020.

 

Rates
Non-refundable pre-registration: 10 euros
Registration: 240 euros.
Extra appointments: 30 euros

– Invitation to the Official Inauguration of PHotoEspaña
– Festival Guide

 

The Organization is not responsible for the transfer and accomodation

 

Award
An external jury will choose the winner of Descubrimientos 2020 from among all the participants.  The winner will have an individual exhibition in the next edition of the Festival. 2019 winner is Lilia Luganskaia.
