Differentiating Images. Conferences given by Joan Fontcuberta and José Jiménez
In the framework of Miguel Ángel García’s exhibition, Unfinished Landscape, and using constructed images in photographic prints as the starting point, the maestros Joan Fontcuberta and José Jiménez propose contemplating and differentiating images.
In today’s world, images surround us, to the extent that it is commonly said that we live in “a society of images”. But, what do we understand as an image? In reality, there is a great diversity of images. The uses and intentions by which they are produced, above all, are very different.
Therefore, it is important to establish theoretical criteria for distinguishing the diverse types of images, their characteristics, and their uses, paying particular attention to the differences between media interest and artistic images. The two interventions of Differentiating Images will open an exploration of these topics.
