The Italian Embassy in Madrid to reinforce the collaboration between Italy and Spain in the creative industries sector, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Madrid, in collaboration with PHotoESPAÑA and CAMERA- Centro Italiano per la Fotografia- announces the competition ITmakES Art.
Rational / Irrational
Candidates are required to present a selection of their works, inspired by the theme "Rational Irrational". The multiple possible declinations of these two complementary concepts in the vision of the real, as the poet Pier Paolo Pasolini said in his verses included in "The Religion of my time" (1961): "I have been rational and I have been / irrational: until the end". Rationality and irrationality are complementary opposites in our contemporaneity, that we act and by which we are and will be acted. To the extreme consequences?
The competition is for Italian and Spanish photographers under the age of 40 (born after 1.1.1978), with residence in Italy or Spain.
Those interested must submit their candidature before 22 April 2019, by filling the registration form for Descubrimientos.
The pre-registration fee of 10 euros must be paid, indicating by email to firstname.lastname@example.org that the project is presented within the scope of the initiative "Descubrimientos - ITmakES Art 2019".

The projects received will be evaluated by a jury made up of a representative of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Madrid, one person from PHotoEspaña and a one of CAMERA.
A selection will be made of a maximum of 6 candidates who will have the opportunity to participate, free of charge, in Descubrimientos on 3 and 4 June at PIC.A the Alcobendas PhotoEspaña International School.
The Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Madrid will cover the following expenses: registration fee for Descubrimientos and travel expenses (from Italy or Spain) and accommodation for the 6 candidates selected.
After there will be a selection of two projects that will also be presented at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Madrid, in October, on the occasion of the "Giornata del Contemporaneo", an international event dedicated to contemporary art and promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian International Cooperation. The exact date will be confirmed at a later date.
