PHotoESPAÑA presents its XXIV edition that will be held between June 2 and September 30, 2021
Elvira Dyangani Ose, guest curator of the edition, it will present two group exhibitions, a film series and a performance and conversation program in which photography will be explored from a global pan-Africanist perspective.
The Festival will value female views of photography both nationally and internationally, with authors such as Margaret Watkins, Barbara morgan, Ouka Leele, Montserrat Soto y Lua ribeira, Among others.
Within the framework of PHotoESPAÑA 2021 Isabel Muñoz will present his latest project, created expressly for the Festival and which reflects on the depletion of resources on the planet, water among others, which can endanger our survival as a species.
PHotoESPAÑA 2021 will feature photography classics such as Bill Brandt, Nicholas nixon, Garry Winogrand y Alfonso; representatives of the Madrid School, such as Gerardo Vielba; and with the youngest voices in contemporary photography, hand in hand with calls such as Doing, Futures y Only with proposals from authors such as Paola Bragado, Alejandro Rego, Arguiñe Escandón, Marius Scarlat, Zied Ben Romdhame, Sonia Merabet, Hakim Rezaoui or Yasmine Hatimi, among others.
The photographic commissions carried out by great authors in Spain between 1983 and 2009 are the protagonists of a complete collective show with works by Sergio Belinchón, Gabriel Cualladó, Joan Fontcuberta, David Goldblatt, Paul Graham, Candida Höfer, Valérie Jouve, Sebastião Salgado, Allan Sekula ...
El Festival OFF It will return to the face-to-face format and will have the participation of 21 galleries from Madrid with exhibitions by Irene Cruz, Bob Colacello, Martin Parr and Wolfgang Tillmans.
Ciudad Real and Oporto are incorporated as venues for the Festival, joining Alcalá de Henares, Alcobendas, Almería, Barcelona and Zaragoza in the Official Section Other Cities.
During the month of September, a new edition of PHotoESPAÑA Santander will be held with around twenty exhibitions and the works of authors such as Robert Doisneau, Isabel Coixet, Campúa or Javier Riera and new voices in photography such as Pilar Oti, Enrique Gambarte or José Quintanilla
As of July, the call #VisitSpain will invite citizens from all over Spain to show their surroundings and share the wealth of the nearest territory.
The new permanent headquarters of the Festival, PHE Gallery will become the heart of the program, with photo book samples, meetings with photographers, workshops and seminars.
In addition, PHotoESPAÑA recovers the Trasatlántica program and will travel to Equatorial Guinea in autumn thanks to the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation - AECID and its Network of Cultural Centers.
