As part of the activities of PHotoESPAÑA 2021, the photographer Paco Gomez will teach in LISTENING. PHotoESPAÑA Forum - Community of Madrid the workshop The Lost Image: Techniques for the Reanimation of Photographs, in which the participants will "revive" forgotten images to give them a second life and generate unique photographic projects.
Family albums, public archives, street markets and even garbage are an inexhaustible source of photographs with which we can develop creative projects. Reflection on the archive can lead us to revive forgotten photographs to give them a new opportunity and generate unique photographic projects.
This workshop with Paco Gómez will dissect five photographic projects by the author who work on the archive image from different perspectives. Attendees will propose forgotten photographs from archives, their own or others, for the suggested resuscitation techniques, propose formulas that bring them back to life and establish guidelines for developing personal projects.
Paco Gomez is a Spanish photographer and writer, winner of the new photographer award from PHotoEspaña03, and one of the founding members of the NOPHOTO collective. His line of research focuses especially on recollection, memory and the construction of family identity, having worked on these issues in research such as The Modlins: A Story Rescued from the Trash (2013) is Wattebled: Trail of Things (2020).
