PHotoESPAÑA wants to recognize the important role that the publishing industry has as a means of disseminating photography. With this objective, since 1998 it has been awarding the Prize for the Best Photography Book of the Year..

We already know the books selected in the call for the Best Photography Book of the Year, an award that PHotoESPAÑA awards every year with the intention of recognizing the effort that the publishing industry makes to spread photography.
The chosen books can be visited at the exhibition The best photography books of the year, which will host the Fernán Gómez Cultural Center of the Villa de Madrid from May 30 to July 30, 2023.
A total of 65 titles in the national, international and self-published categories, from among which a professional jury will select the winners, who will be announced shortly on the festival's social networks and website. The award for Outstanding Publisher of the Year will also be awarded.
If your book has not been selected as a finalist, we remind you that you can only come and pick it up in person at La Fábrica bookstore (Calle de la Verónica, 13, 28004, Madrid) until May 27.
It is not necessary to make an appointment, you can come from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 17 p.m. Books that are not collected during this period will be donated to universities and cultural centers, where they will become part of their funds.
Participation requirements
The call for this XXVI edition of the Festival will be open until March 31th 2023. Authors and publishers of all nationalities who present photography books published between the April 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023.
To participate, it is essential to fill out the registration form what you will find below. Once you have registered online, you must print the form received by e-mail and send it, together with two copies of each publication in the competition, to the following address:

The reception of books will remain open until 14 April 2023. All submissions made up to the day of closing of the call will be accepted. The participant will have to pay the shipping cost in full and with delivery to the indicated address. The organization will not be responsible for any shipping costs and will not receive any book with expenses to pay.
Selection of books
A pre-selection committee made up of professionals from the publishing world will be in charge of selecting the finalist books that will be exhibited during the months of the Festival. The list of selected books will be made public on the PHotoESPAÑA website and social networks.
The books selected for the exhibition will not be returned. Those not selected may be picked up at the PHotoESPAÑA offices, from the communication of the shortlisted until the May 27, 2023. Once that period has passed, the publications will be sent to libraries and cultural centers, where they will become part of their collections.
