Looking means committing, committing to take an active role in what you are seeing: it is what inspired Carla Sozzani's activity throughout her life. Playing a crucial role in fashion since the early 70s, Sozzani has collaborated with numerous photographers and in 1990 she opened in Milan the Galleria devoted to photography, art and design, becoming a key figure and an international icon.

Sozzani’s extensive photography collection is comprised of works spanning from the 19th century until today and includes pieces by artists like Man Ray, Helmut Newton, Làzlò Moholy-Nagy, Francesca Woodman, Daido Moriyama and Alfred Stieglitz, among others. As the outcome of 40 years of encounters and discoveries, this impeccable selection of images embodies the collector’s personal vision of the world, the feminine and beauty. This is an exceptional exhibition, a far cry from conventions, which suggests a new perspective on photography and contemporary art.
