In this exhibition, The Nature of Things, Chema Madoz not only plays with everyday objects but also extends his ingeniousness to the nature around us: the animal, plant and mineral realms. The enclosure of a cage turns into a cloud. An ice cube into a gift. Musical notes fall like the branches of a tree. A cactus is actually made of stone. And the list goes on.

The first glance at one of Chema Madoz’s photographs challenges and surprises us. As our eyes pause on the image, we identify the different elements comprising it. The viewer’s discomfort is then transformed into complicity with the photographer, who suggests a new way of seeing the world. He creates new objects. He invents unexpected combinations. He thinks about unusual new associations. He reveals the fragility of life.
