Modus Operandi — Calle de Lope de Vega, 31, 28014 Madrid

In Shed Skin, the artist Sergio Lardiez spotlights the female figure to reflect on separation and enclosure, movement and struggle, imagination and dreams to flee from the body, and, in short, resilience and humans’ ability to deal with adversity. The naked body wrapped in plastic becomes a poetic representation of what we have experienced over these long, hard weeks of quarantine: from the suffocation and asphyxia of the early days and how these initial sensations disappeared until we were once again free. Lardiez uses his photographs to speak about the sense of almost science fiction that we have experienced during the COVID-19 crisis, which has brought us feelings of loneliness, isolation and uncertainty, yet have also helped us find ourselves, learn about ourselves and enlighten ourselves.
