In PHotoESPAÑA XNUMX, the National Photography Award winner Alberto García-Alix, in conjunction with the Fundación ENAIRE, presents his project Fantasies in the Prado, an evocative project in which the artist retouches some of the works in this museum.
Using analogic photography and double exposures of fragments of the same work of art on a single negative, García-Alix creates an extraordinary ‘fantasy’ within the painting itself. Through different frames and super-impositions, the photographer reinterprets the artwork while keeping the essence and character of the pieces in the Prado. Works by Goya, El Greco, Van der Weyden, Velázquez and others are seen through the filter of the camera of one of the greatest Spanish photographers, who views the Museo del Prado as ‘the best photography school’.
