The Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and PHotoESPAÑA announce a new edition of PHotoWalk Lanzarote, an experience that offers participants the opportunity to delve into the natural and human heritage of the island through photography and to enrich his personal projects, this time with the help of Carmela García.

The activity takes place in the form of a workshop over four days (between Friday 28 and Monday 31 October 2022), in which photographic outings are carried out that allow visitors to visit and discover a visual reality beyond the tourist icons of Lanzarote.

Through the eyes of Carmela García, the peculiar architecture of the island and its characteristic landscapes will become the setting for images in which art, gender and territory are combined.

The central element of the work of Carmela garcia it is the dual need to rethink and change the world. Carrying it out from a gender perspective is not only a simple way of projecting on the need for another future, but rather means, in the first instance, a scenario of claiming a different consideration of what is feminine in the world. Her work unfolds as an exercise that develops both from the history of social relations between women and in an ongoing fiction that offers us oblique visions of personal contact, affinities and love between them.

His work has been shown in museums in Spain (Reina Sofía, CAAM, MUSAC, IVAM), the United States (PS1 Moma), Japan (MOT, Kanazawa Museum), Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, among others.
