The Saturdays Workshops: PHotoCollage. Fundación Canal

For the eleventh consecutive year, the Fundación Canal and PHotoESPAÑA organize The Saturday Workshops with a program called PHotoCollage, which will place during the four weekends of June in the gardens of the Fundación Canal to share with children and young adults a greater understanding of photography.

The work of Henri Matisse embodies an affirmation of the best things in life. He was an artist that was able to transmit through color his enthusiasm for beauty, gardens, flowers, sunlight, fruits, dance, and women.

This year, the participants of the workshops will explore notions of visual enjoyment, beauty, and daydreams. Using the mixed technique of the photo collages, they will experiment with the expressive and narrative possibilities of photography.

Workshop participants will combine photographs that they themselves make during the workshop together with cutouts of solid color papers to learn to compose scenes that depict situations that reflect their fantasy or relationship with nature, as well as how to create more abstract compositions that define what makes them happy.

Age: 5 – 8 years

The youngest will make dream compositions on paper. They will stick cut-outs of bright flat colors of elements reminiscent of nature, oceans and space, together with the photographs taken by them during the workshop. They will create scenes where they are the protagonists of their particular fantasy.

Edad: 9 – 12 años

This gruop will establish a dialogue with nature. They will express in their photocollages the relationship they have with this medium, transmitting emotions, such as respect, gratitude, admiration or delight. They will use cut-outs of nature’s own elements that they will stick together with their self-portraits.

Age: 13 – 15 years

Through the symbology and the psychology of color and in a mixture of abstraction and figuration, the older ones will represent the sensations produced by those things they enjoy the most and that best define their way of being. In their compositions, they will use cutouts of geometric shapes and flat colors, in addition to the photographs taken in the workshop.
