These photographs are Castro Prieto’s personal testimony during the darkest days of confinement. To Prieto, one of the most valuable things about photography as an artistic discipline is that it allows each person to interpret the same image differently. Our own memories mix with the author’s references, and the viewer has the right to interact with them however they want. The photographer does not need to be the one who explains the reasons behind each photograph, since if they did, they would be guiding the views and reflections of the person seeing them. This is precisely what Prieto seeks with the images he is presenting here: for each person to see them from their own personal terrain and to draw their own conclusions based on that.
