Since the pandemic moved in and forced us into confinement, the photographer Clemente Bernad has performed the same ritual every day: crossing the threshold of his door, travelling around the city, photographing what he finds there and going back home with images of the outside world. This practice, which would be totally unimportant in a normal context, becomes a kind of journey to the underworld during this period. The streets Bernad walks on now are not the streets of yesterday. Even though they look the same, there is an atmosphere that has transformed them into a strange place. Spaces that are usually filled are now totally empty. Bernad walks along these streets as if he were walking through a slum or dark alley, through a territory where the boundaries and distances blur and become threatening.
