The Day You Left
The Day You Left is a reflection on tourist infrastructures and how human beings have acted in the natural environment of Mallorca in the wake of tourism. Huge constructions, motorways, a host of roundabouts with sculptures in the centre, bridges, tunnels to get places more quickly, lookout points, countless hotels, dikes, platforms on rocks… an unbridled and at times unnecessary projection of urban development. The photographer Rif Spahni examines how the situation caused by COVID-19 has given us the chance to really look at these constructions and question their meaning now that the streets of the island are inhabited not by tourists but by the silence to which we are no longer accustomed.
